Social media

Social media is a quite recent phenomenon. With the exposure of the WEB 2.0 the social media came to our life. Now we cannot imagine our life without it. But what is the “Social media”? Well, according to Chris Shipley 2006 it is “the place on the web where people can make the public conversations”.


There are a lot of examples of Social Media which we were using every day without noticing that it is a Social Media – MySpace, Facebook , Yuotube, Flickr, Wikipedia, Blogger, Live Journal, Twitter, Google Answers etc. As well Social media describes websites that allow users to share content, media, etc. The users can share their views, pictures, videos etc. The huge advantage is that your physical location does not matter. You only should have an internet access to go to web.


Nowadays the social media become really important for business. It is a real opportunity for businesses to market themselves and to get the new customers. Other benefit of the social media for business is it cheapness which is very relevant for the small companies cause they don’t have large amount of money to spend on marketing.


The Social media is and emerging market right now so it is extremely crucial for business to adapt their marketing strategy to compete well enough in the 21st century using the latest technology in order to produce or deliver cutting edge products or services.
